CONFERENCES – I hope you have returned your conference slips. We will see some of you next Thursday on the 17th.
REGIONAL SCHOOL UPDATE
Will tuition be set before registration?
Yes. While we do not know the tuition rate yet, we do know that it will be set before we ask families to register. Also, please remember that there is a commitment to financial assistance.
How long will the steering committees be in place?
The steering committees are designed to be in place for this year only and will then be disbanded. The purpose of the steering committees is for initial school planning only. Standing school committees will be put in place after the work of the steering committees is completed.
Will the services we receive through state and federal funding continue?
Yes! While the way programs like special education are delivered may change, we do know the services will continue. Services are based on school residence not home addresses.
What will the pastors’ role be in the school? All 5 pastors, Fr. Kenney of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Fr. Adrian of St. Matthew, Fr. Echert of Holy Trinity, Fr.Besson of St. John Vianney and Fr. Rudolph, will be on the board of directors and will play a role in the school’s Catholic identity and the entire life of the school.
How many students can St. Mike’s handle? At one time we had close to 400 students. We have 91, St. Matt’s has 159 which equals 260.
STEERING COMMITTEES
If you have the expertise to assist in any of the six steering committees with a specific project such as website design, marketing, communications, or other tasks featured in the newsletter, please contact the principal. Not everyone that volunteers will necessarily be on the committee, remember four schools are requesting volunteers. Look at the responsibilities under each committee. Is there one item you feel you could help with or give some input to? Email me your ideas.
SITE VISIT
We are hosting St. Matthew’s Families Tuesday evening. I took 160 invitations to St. Matthew’s. As the Host Site, we need your help. My first request for help was the night of the public meeting last Thursday. (Eleven St. Michael families showed up, thank you. I was told the other three schools had over half their families attend.) We sent another notice in the 2nd quarter Volunteer form. A third plea was on the flyer announcing the site visits and now it is an SOS.
We need help:

I would like student help, too. They should wear their gold shirts.
Please fill out the following form and return it by Monday. If I do not receive it I will have your child call you on Monday. I need everyone’s cooperation.

As you wait in anticipation on Thursdays for my Newsletter, do you ever wonder how it gets from my computer to your envelope? Well, Patti Walsh comes in every Thursday morning and begins copying and correlating all the items that are put in that special envelope that you sign, date, and send back on Friday. Linda Winston and I really appreciate her time and talent. Mrs. Walsh is also on the Home & School Board.
A GREAT BIG THANK YOU to Frank Stickler, parishioner and grandfather to Marisa. Mr. Stickler built the platform replacing the old bridge on the playground equipment. The children are again enjoying running from one side to the other.
